Betting Tickets

Lost Betting Tickets

If you have lost your ticket and your details have not been given to the Betting Ring Manager on duty on the raceday, you should then write to NJPC with the following details:

  • Date of meeting
  • Racecourse
  • Bookmaker's name
  • Stake
  • Odds
  • Name of Horse
  • Your name and address

The NJPC will write to the bookmaker who will check his records for the outstanding bet.

If the bookmaker has an outstanding bet that matches the details given, he will forward a cheque to the NJPC.

This will NOT be paid until a month after the race date in case the original betting ticket is presented for payment.

If the original betting ticket is found by another racegoer/punter, and is then subsequently presented to the bookmaker for payment, the claimant's application for payment will not be paid.

If your details have been given to the Betting Ring Manager, he/she will forward your details to the NJPC Office who will then contact the bookmaker as detailed above.

Unclaimed Betting Tickets

If you are in possession of an unclaimed winning ticket you should write to the NJPC enclosing the original ticket and your name and address. This must NOT be a photocopy of the ticket although it is advisable to take a photocopy before forwarding it to the NJPC.

The NJPC will then write to the bookmaker informing him of details of the claim. The bookmaker will check his records for an outstanding bet.

If the bookmaker has an outstanding bet that matches the details given, he will forward a cheque in the racegoers'/punters' name to the NJPC. On receipt of this cheque the NJPC will then forward it to the racegoer/punter and return the original ticket to the bookmaker.

Tickets are valid for one month (tickets within 6 months of issue are usually settled) from the date of issue. Beyond this time the payment of an unclaimed ticket is at the bookmaker's discretion.
